Trouble shooting: Can’t find Python executable “python” on Windows 10

Recreate Issue:

  • While following Hyperledger Fabric’s “Writing Your First Application”, under “fabric-sample” > “fabcar”
  • $ npm install
  • Error: “……gyp ERR! stack Error: Can’t find Python executable “python”, you can set the PYTHON env variable…..”

3. Solution: Install Python

  • “Start” > Type in “PowerShell” > Right click, run as Administrator
  • Run > npm –add-python-to-path=’true’ –debug install –global windows-build-tools
  • Go back to Bash, go to “fabric-sample” > “fabcar”
  • $ npm install
